Laser Hair Removal

At Derma Med Spa and Laser Skin Care Services we use the Long pulse Nd:YAG lasers during our hair removal series of treatments. This laser ensures you the best possible results and also ensures your safety and well-being. We are able to treat all skin types, including sun tanned skin safely and effectively.

How does it work?

The light and laser target the melanin in the hair follicle and eradicate it with heat and light.

How many treatments will I need?

Every person is different, optimal results can take up to a year, depending on the area treated and your hair and skin type. On average, 6-8 treatments are needed at 6 week intervals. There are 3 phases of hair growth – anagen, catagen, and telogen. Only hairs in the active growth phase, anagen, can be successfully treated. Since only 20% or so of hairs are in the anagen phase at any one time, successive treatments are needed.

Is this a permanent treatment?

Nobody can guarantee permanent total hair removal by any method. Be leery of anyone promising permanent hair removal. Be assured that at Southwest Laser and Medspa, we will be honest in your complimentary consultation and tell you exactly what you can expect. We can promise permanent hair reduction and we do have great success with our methods. Our overall goal at Southwest Laser and MedSpa is to make sure you are happy with your results. Our hair removal packages were created in a way to give you the best results possible using the latest technology.

Who is eligible for hair removal?

Every skin type including the darker color toned skin are safe to have laser treatments done, and because of the safety factor it can be used anywhere on the body.

Should I shave the area requiring treatment before my visit?

Yes, you should shave before every treatment, it is recommended. For up to six weeks before a laser hair removal treatment, do not pluck, or wax your hair; because this will remove the hair follicle.
